We needed a large Czech flag to fly at a memorial event to mark Czech and Guernsey Liberation on Saturday/Sunday 8/9 May 2021. I suddenly realised this at 7pm on Friday 30 April. The Flag Shop isn't open Saturday/Sunday and Monday 3 May was a bank holiday. In addition, the covid situation had slowed everything down, especially the postal system. Once I'd made the order, I sent a follow-up email to explain the urgency, knowing the Flag Shop wouldn't be working until the Tuesday and we needed the flag by the Saturday. This fantastic business sent me notification that the flag had been posted during the bank holiday! However, there was no real hope that it would arrive in time as the only postal delivery to the Island was via the daily mail flight from Southampton and Flag Shop is up there in the midlands. Much to my delight, and surprise, the flag arrived on the Friday plane and can be hoisted at the memorial at Guernsey airport in time for the event.
